Ayahuasca Medicine

In the shamanic world, all human condition of sickness is considered a result of a spiritual imbalance or energetic blockage in the body. True healing comes from a place of integration simultaneously on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. From this viewpoint the ego based western societies are in a spiritual sickness, out of balance and in great need of healing.

The ayahuasca medicine is a tea brewed from the thick woody stems of the Banisteriopsis Caapi vine and the big bushy leaves of the Chacruna (Psychotria viridis) plant, a member of the coffee family. With great reverence, intention and prayer, the plants are prepared and cooked for several days. All the while the shaman sings his sacred songs of healing making this tea into a medicine.

The ayahuasca ceremony in the traditional sense is a time when the tribe would gather together in an evening to drink the medicine for it's healing, visionary and spiritual transformation. Each person's experience is highly individual and is a direct communication with the deepest parts of who they are. The heightened sensitivity by the plant unlocks a state of consciousness where the person is fully awake yet aware of the inner subconscious mind. The shamans refer to this state as dreaming while you are awake.

The key to this experience is the communication of both of these parts of yourself simultaneously. You consciously become aware on multiple levels extending beyond the 5 physical senses, no longer filtering out the extrasensory information by your waking mind. A doorway opens up and you see the truth of who you really are.

There is a natural detoxification process that begins by working with the ayahuasca medicine. It is known for its properties of physical cleansing of the digestive system and whole body, removing stored mucus, killing parasites, and other impurities that rob energy from the body.

All emotional memory is stored in the body and subtle energetic field around the body. For some people the heaviness that is felt in their life is the weight of old emotional baggage. These memories will often be brought to surface, confronted and released during the work with the plants. It is in this clearing process that we allow the space for higher energy, new creativity and vibrancy to enter back into our life.

Part of the way the ayahuasca medicine works is by literally purging out of us anything that is not in balance and harmony. Referred to as la purga or the purge, this can be sweating, crying, laughing, diarrhea and vomiting. This is considered a benefit of the plant and your body's natural responses for cleansing itself. Sometimes it occurs and sometimes not and is simply a part of the experience.

Many people ask what an ayahuasca experience is like but this can only be known by directly having the experience. Even after having the experience there are parts that cannot be translated to a fully conscious level. No part of the journey with the plants is ever lost, but more like seeds that are planted and continue to grow in your life over time. The effects of the medicine continue into the weeks and months afterwards as this new vibratory state grounds and integrates.

Please note that we will be engaging in some very powerful shamanic practices and this event may not be appropriate for everyone. We reserve the right to accept or decline applicants at our sole discretion.

Booking Requirements: €2000 per person per week (10% discount for couples); €500 deposit per person due at registration; Special rate available for a two week (17-day) workshop.

Payment can be made by certified check or bank wire transfer. All prices are in Euros (€).


The workshop fee is for each 8 day event and includes:

• Shared bungalow style accommodation. Each bunglaow sleeps two people and
  has private bathroom, hot shower, and veranda with hammock.
  
  
• Three meals a day of delicious Bahian style cuisine; Two snacks with the
  superfood açai each day along with fresh young water coconuts; Unlimited
  beverages in restaurant and refrigerated bottled water stocked in each room;
  we can accommodate vegetarian, vegan and other dietary needs.
  
  
• Three evenings of ayahuasca ceremony plus lectures and group sharing sessions.
  
  
• One hour long bodywork session. Additional sessions available at supplemental
  cost.
  
  
• Mid week nature trip to visit the beautiful surrounding regions of Bahia.
  
  
• All local transportation and airport transfers provided by air conditioned
  motor coach and boat.
  
  
• Private and exclusive use of the eco-resort property and it’s amenities; wireless internet.
  
  
• One extra night and meals the day before the workshop (so we can rest from our travel)
